Learn to express extreme numbers as a x 10^n, where 1 ≤ a < 10. We'll cover exponent rules and standard form conversions. For example, rewriting 8,500,000 as 8.5 x 10^6 where (a=8.5) or 0.003 as 3 x 10^-3 (where a=3). We can write 1000 as 1x10^3 (where a=1).

Ratio, Rates, Proportions & Percents

Ratios compare two quantities (3:4 apples to oranges). Rates are ratios with different units (60 miles/1 hour). Percents are ratios out of 100 (85%). Proportions show two equivalent ratios (1/2 = 2/4). They all use division to express relative quantities and equivalent values.
